Did you know they burned her three times?

After the initial blaze, Jeanne’s body still looked too much “like” her. So, they burned her again. Consequently, her organs were found still intact, and again, she was burned.

No soldiers, money, or support from the King she had helped crown, even the remains of her physical presence commanded unease. We are compelled to ask, what were they so afraid of?

In life, her presence must have been powerful indeed, a woman unafraid of the battlefield, capable of inspiring men to fight to their death. Did she know she went to war for men who would watch her burn? She must have understood her own significance, felt her own influence, in the aftermath of the Siege of Orleans. What if the angels had spoken of her own divinity, rather than that of Kings?

A young girl from nowhere, turned the tide of the Hundred Years War, became a saint in death.  Who could she have become, had she lived?
